2) Attach a tape measure to the mainsail halyard and hoist it to the black band or to desired location (measurements 2a & 2b will determine the sail luff & leech lengths. Do NOT hoist the tape to all the way to halyard block/ sheave or the sail will be to long), and measure:

2a) down to the top surface of the boom. (Max. Luff Length) _________

2b) hold the boom in its desired sailing position and measure to the clew location at the outhaul fitting.
Don’t forget to account for dodger (Max.Leech)________

3) At the tack fitting measure (if utilizing a shackle measure with the shackle in the horizontal position)...

3a) from aft side of mast to bearing surface of outhaul fitting (Max. Foot)________
3b) to the backstay with the boom horizontal (Backstay Position)______
3c) from aft surface of mast to bearing surface of tack fitting (Tack Back)_______
3d) distance from top of boom to bearing surface of tack fitting (Tack Up)______

4) Measure your reef hardware positions from the aft surface of the mast...

4a) to bearing surface of reef hook (Reef Hook Back)._________
4b) to the far side of first reef sheave (Reef Sheave #1)__________
4c) to the far side of the second reef sheave (Reef Sheave #2)_________

5) Some masts bend to alter mainsail shape, we will need to determine the amount of bend in your mast. The bend of the mast is largely located:

5a) At point of maximum bend approximate the amount of bend (your mast width can be used as a guide) _________

6) There are several different ways your mainsail could be attached to the back end of your boom. Select one of the following:

6a) Outhaul attaches directly to sail and will need a clew slug at the clew. If so indicate slug size/type (see question #7) _____________

6b) A clew car permanently attached to the boom and that car shackles to the sail. Measure from the top of the boom to the bearing surface of the outhaul pin (if the outhaul fitting is a rotating shackle, measure the shackle at 45° to the boom).

  Clew Car Up _________
Outhaul car length _______
...how far can it travel? ________

7) Mast, Boom Track / Slot type
Loose-foot configuration is standard on all CD mainsails. If an alternative is desired, a measurement must be provided. Determine the appropriate luff & foot attachment and indicate below. Cardboard pop-out templates are provided in our printed CD Buyer's Guide.

EXTRAS
Reefs: The price for reefs on a CD mainsail is 8% of the base cost of the sail itself. Multiply base price by .08 to get the cost per reef.

Example: if the base price of your sail (from line 6) is $600, then the cost of one reef is .08 x $600 = $48. Making the cost of your sail $648.

Line 5__________x .08 = __________ (If more than one reef is desired multiply the number of reefs x cost per reef. Place this number on line 6e.) Please note that CD mainsails are offered with a maximum of 2 reef points.
